Description

The life story of two unusual people, the French republican, the director of the Louvre, Jacques Jojart, and the German aristocrat, Count Franz Wolff-Metternich, an officer of Hitler's army of occupation - enemies who became like-minded in the matter of keeping museum valuables. Alexander Sokurov's thoughts about the Louvre as a landmark of Paris and France, about museums as symbols of civilization, about culture and history, about art and power. Here, chronicle footage and staged scenes, reality and the author's free fantasy are woven into a single whole - into a charming, bitter, ironic, emotional and exciting story.
