Saint Joan

Description

Bernard Shaw's classic play about a simple girl whose actions were able to turn the tide of the war in favor of the French. Joan of Arc is the first spontaneous Protestant and a follower of nationalism, which means that she is dangerous both for the structure of feudal society in medieval France and for the Catholic Church. Gemma Arterton plays the title role in Josie Rourke's electrifying production (Dangerous Liaisons, Coriolanus).
