Tiny Shoulders, Rethinking Barbie

Description

Barbie is the most famous doll in history, a fashion icon and a target for feminists. This eloquent documentary features never-before-seen footage, reveals the biggest changes since Barbie, and explores more than 60 years of women's history through the lens of the 30cm plastic doll. Through interviews with Gloria Steinem, Roxanne Gay, Peggy Orenstein, Mattel insiders and cultural scholars, the film explores the progress and regress of recent women's struggles for equal rights, as well as six decades of shockingly sexist media and eyewitness accounts of Barbie's invention and evolution.
