Erde

Description

We walk on it every day. We plow it, dig and drill, cover it with concrete. We map it and measure it; we draw our borders on it; and we imagine that it belongs to us. We live by what it produces and bury our dead in it. We take its existence for granted; she seems indestructible. If we consider our planet as an organism, then its crust - only 40 kilometers thick - is its most vulnerable organ.
